Burnt rubber in your eyes, nose and mouth means only one thing – Powerplay is back for another year. Last Saturday, Queensland Raceway was home again to the one day extravaganza that is Powerplay, bringing everything from daily driven street cars to drag cars and everything in between out to the track for some fun. Maice and myself headed out to Queensland Raceway to cover the event for Downshift, courtesy of some passes from event sponsor Just Car Insurance.
In the early cold morning we saw Big Dan’s BMW 530D looking the part slammed with massive 18×11 inch wide rears.
Danny Kennelly’s Skyvia (S13 chassis with a R34 front) blew the diff within an hour of the day’s activities commencing. Danny and his team worked hard and got the the car fixed and it was back on the track shredding tyres later in the day.
There was some serious tyre choices for the day…
There was some awesome drifting at the short-track through the day, the drifters knew exactly how to rally and get the crowd going…
For the first time at Powerplay, the crowd was allowed on track for Powercruise street outlaws. The atmosphere was amazing, standing beside these monsters as they staged and then raced was unreal. The ear shattering exhaust noise, the sweet smell and the vibrations that were felt through the body was one of my favourite moments that day.
Team hot wheels did a great job putting on a show throughout the day…
The cruise sessions throughout the day were enjoyed by everyone…
Bee’s much anticipated LS V8 turbocharged V35 was on point all day, and having heard what he has planned for his sexy V35 next makes me want one….
