I was in Bangkok last week, and decided to go for a ride on a rented scooter to a workshop recommended by one of our fans. After a 2 hour trek through heavy traffic and in oppressive heat to the outskirts of Bangkok, my friend and I turned up to the place where the shop was supposed to be… except it wasn’t.
A few messages and phone calls later, I found out that the shop is in fact, in a totally different part of town. *sigh* Oh well, if we’ve come this far, lets man up and just get there! We jumped back on the bike and rode for another hour, to a little nondescript alley way in the Bangkok suburbs, while getting pretty sunburnt.
The first thought when we arrived: worth it. We pulled in to the forecourt, to be greeted by 2x R35 GTRs, one of them half-assembled on a hoist, the other orange beast rocking a Rocket Bunny widebody kit with some enormous wheels sitting on the side. The fun continued out the back with a 2JZ s-chassis in the parking lot, next to another Rocket Bunny creation, but this time a Boss-kitted S14.
After having a chat with the super friendly owners Oat and Nick, they invited me to their grand opening the following Monday. There was only one problem: I was due to fly back to Saigon a week before that! The boys were like: “Come anyway.” Pretty hard to argue with that logic… So I did.
Arriving in Bangkok an hour late due to a huge storm, I faced another hour standing in the immigration line, before facing another 70-deep queue for the taxi. I thought to myself: “F this, I can’t get there and miss the party!” I ran out of the terminal and down the adjacent service road next to a highway, hailing cabs the whole way, but none of them would stop.. A very sweaty 25 minutes later, a lady driving a bright pink taxi pulled over, and after some negotiations jumped on the freeway, and we were in business!
Rocking up at Infinite Motorsport was pretty insane. Out the front carpark was a lineup of a LB-widebody convertible M3 on Work VX-SS, next to an LB Aventador on gigantic Forgiatos, next to an LB BMW Z4 on Work Emotion CR 2Ps. Not a bad entryway, right! Here’s a live video I posted with all the goodies.
20/21″ stagger, 355s on rear!!
The shop itself and the back area was lit up, the fairy lights and music giving the place a sweet ambience.
Of course the widebody NSX on Rays SE37Ks…
FD3S RX-7 on Rays TE37 RTs
Lotus, Murcielago, Rocket Bunny S13 hatch, RB S14 and brand new M4 didn’t hurt!
I was fortunate enough to meet Kato-san of Liberty Walk, who also made the journey to Thailand for both this event and Bangkok Auto Salon!
One of the best parts of the night was making new friends in a totally new place, who share your passion. No wonder Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles! Had an awesome time with these guys and girls, having post-event feeds and drinks, while the rain poured down. <3
The next day I decided to swing by the shop, grab some more shots and accompany the guys to the Bangkok Auto Salon for setting up.
BKK Auto Salon post coming up in the next few days!
