You’ll probably remember seeing an insane orange Murcielago SV in our coverage of the Porsche Club Queensland’s track day back in October last year, at Queensland Raceway, with the plates MISSILE. Being one of just three in Queensland, and a worldwide production run of just 350, this car is potentially the rarest and most exotic car in the entire state. At the track day I approached the owner of the car as he was heading off, but he wasn’t down for a photoshoot, perhaps because he recently had it shot by Epic Images. So having been shut down, I walked away disappointed, but knowing that I had at least given it a go.
But they say, every dog has its day.
As it turns out, Rory’s friend Hydie is friends with the owner ‘Scud’, and showed him my images from the PCQ track day. He was satisfied enough with the images to let me shoot his orange SuperVeloce AND his green Superleggera at the same time! As an added bonus, Scud’s friend also attended with his white Superleggera. Stoked!
When we found out we only had the guys and the cars for a couple of hours, I knuckled down and created the base images for this set. I know I’ve been sitting on the images for a while and taking my time with editing them, but I wanted to make the pictures really special – as Drake says, I’m trying to do better than good enough. Towards the end of our allotted time, we went for a short cruise to a nearby servo so I could get a few rolling shots, and on the way back, I was even lucky enough to score a ride in the white SL. On thinking back to this experience, “violent” and “brutal” are some of the adjectives that spring to mind. If you’ve never been for a ride in something of this magnitude, I will confirm what you all suspect – you ARE missing out.
