Last weekend I had the privilege to be invited out on another Porsche Club event by my buddy Sam, as well as the organisers of PCQ since they liked my pics from the last event. This time instead of hitting the track, we met everyone at BP Yatala, and cruised down to meet the rest of the group at Burleigh.

I was riding in Grimace, while Foy was in Alex’s little yellow Civic. Being stripped out and slammed to the ground, the Civic made a less-than-ideal camera car.. It was quite comical to see it bounding down the M1, bouncing at every join in the concrete on the freeway! Foy did well regardless, but let’s just say I was happy to be in Sam’s Porka, not just for comfort but for relatively sharp photos! At one point, I was hanging out the door, taking a shot of a 996 turbo chasing down the Egg:

Knee deep

After a bit of chatting and hanging shit on Boxster drivers, we headed off from Burleigh.. We took the roads through the hinterland and managed to get lost only once, working it out when we found ourselves passing cruise participants heading the opposite way! No matter, with a bit of U-turn and boost, we were right up their backside again (no homo).

Just after crossing the QLD/NSW border, we stopped at a cafe that was made of old railway cars..

But what really interested me was the paddock next to it, where I set up an impromptu shoot of Sam’s car.

We took off and blasted down the country roads surrounding Murwillumbah, and back into the hinterland on the way to lunch, but first we stopped at the tiny little town of Tyalgum. The locals were fairly surprised when 30 Porsches took up basically the entire main street of the town!

Old vs New

Lunch was organised at Tropical Fruit World just on the NSW side of the border, and THAT was a bit of an experience.. The food was great, but it was the service that made it really special! One of the serving girls was pretty much begging to take her with us.. Not sure if its because she hated being there or the cars or maybe Foy’s pretty face, but in any case, she would have dropped everything and jumped in if we agreed to it!

Great day, pretty scenery, hot cars, surrounded by good people. What more could you want for a lazy Sunday?
