I have been way behind with editing lately, because the card reader on my camera shat itself and corrupted all my pictures. I haven’t stopped attending events or taking photos, so my unedited folder piled up like crazy; expect a lot of late updates in the next week. I’m trying to do my best to post everything before heading to World Time Attack, which is just on a week away. So, here are my shots from the 2011 Annual Honda Cruise! I have attended the annual cruise for around 3 years now, and it’s always an awesome day out, which manages to pull all kinds of new and unique builds.
The meet didn’t start ’til 9am, but, as Matyi said, we got there early to give the Downshift and FFamily crews a chance to grab some breakfast, get the best possible parks with a few photos, and to set up some banners since Downshift organised this year’s cruise.
After everyone grabbed the insanely cheap breakfast, we spent probably 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get out of Ikea, but finally got out to the carpark where the meet was being held. I decided to get some pictures of the boys’ cars before crowds started flooding in.
Unfortunately, I was a little too late, and just after taking a few shots of Ash’s K-swapped EG and Emilio’s EG on SSR MS1rs, the crowds started to form. By form, I mean I legitimately lost sight of Ash’s car and I was only about 5 metres from it.
It started off as a small crowd…
…A fairly unusual one…
Then all of a sudden, BOOM! If this were a Zombie apocolypse, we’d have all been screwed.
The turn out at the Ikea was a fairly solid one; more cars arrived after I took this picture, which probably brought numbers up to about 100 or so.
I have seen this car around quite a bit, and it attracts attention – for good and bad reasons. While it may look a little mismatched, it’s running a B18C-R under the hood.
Robi’s DC5 is definitely a favourite of mine, always has been, especially with the killer mag blue TE37s!
Yes, they are real BBS LM’s.
This particular EG is quite the talk of the town, because it’s said to be running a B22 with a JUN head (whether or not this is true is a different story).
Just after we checked out the EG, we saw everyone walking over to the entrance of the carpark to watch two white, slammed EKs rolling in.
The Arctic White EK rolling on BBS RSs was insane; it was completely smalled and the wheels had ridiculous specs for a civic. I want to shoot this car!
The Championship White EK was rolling on Equip 03s on one side, Equip 01s the other, and was also low as hell.
This S2k – wow. Mag blue TE37s, on a white, hardtop S2000 is like the perfect combination.
This Jackson Racing supercharged K20 was sitting in a totally inconspicuous silver DC5.
I figure posting up more pics of the FFamily & Downshift crews will make it easier for all our readers to come up and say hi to us! Obviously, though, you won’t want to say hi to Cam and Steve, because, let’s face it… They look like weirdos. Hahaha, sorry guys.
David’s DC5s rolling on his amazing BBS RSs.
We then bailed from the Springwood Ikea, and after about an hour on the highway we ended up at the Morayfield BP. The truck stop managed to fit the 100+ Honda’s on the cruise with ease.
Tom’s EG Civic is pretty renowned, mostly because it is ridiculously decked and he actually drives around like that. Those Equip 01s are in some fairly insane specs – from memory it is 15×8 -6 at the front.
Mullens’ clean EK K-swap is running some serious camber on his new CR-Kais.
When we arrived at the second meet spot it seemed like we’d somehow acquired an extra 100 Hondas.
Absolutely love Dave’s CRX because it is one of the few clean ones in the whole country.
Unforunately, since about 200 Hondas were parking in the most whacked out positions, the police arrived and threatended defects. So, naturally, everyone bailed and I didn’t get much of a chance to get pics at the second spot.
It was an awesome day out, and even though the police ended it pretty abruptly, it didn’t matter because everyone definitely had fun around the masses of quality Hondas. I will leave you guys with the faces of Downshift and FFamily at the BBQ we conjured up after we bailed.
Alex (yellow EG6) and David (Silver DC5).
Ash (K20 EG) & Emilio (EG on SSR MS1rs).
Jono (B16B EJ8).
The two happiest campers ever, Dave (B20 Ek1) and Steve (EF sedan).
