Every year a winter festival is held on the border of Queensland and New South Wales called “Cooly Rocks On”. As far as I am aware, it’s the biggest 50s and 60s nostalgia festival in the country, featuring Rock ‘n roll, Rockabilly, Swing music and over 1,000 hot rods, custom cars and classic vehicles lining the beachfront of Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. I first had the pleasure of checking it out whilst shooting for Street Machine magazine a couple of years ago, and was stunned by the variety and quality of metal gracing the wind and rain swept streets.
This year the event was held on the same weekend as our very own DS Cinque, so I couldn’t make it. But Duane Vanarey of Autoholic Photography captured some brilliant images that we wanted to share with you!
This thing is gigantic!
Mmm ITBs..
Check out all the custom work and attention to detail.. Incredible!
Hmm mixed feelings..
But where do you sit?
