RWB 993 Reveal and book Launch
Born and raised in Clayton, Melbourne, with a passion for Rauh-Welt Begriff cars, I was privileged enough to have Australia’s first ever RWB 993 built in my own hometown, RWB Australia’s second build “Chigiri” which translates to “The Promise.”
With a decent turnout having many cars ranging from European to Japanese, many endured the rain upon early arrival to ensure that they could get their hands on a limited copy of RWB Volume 1 – Life After Birth, as well as other merchandise including apparel, stickers and posters signed by Akira Nakai-San himself!
Not everybody had an easy arrival.
It was not until midday when the door was opened to the approximate 200 people from all over Melbourne who have prolonged to witness Australia’s spectacular second RWB build. It was quite pleasant to see people represent their RWB countries from Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia and USA travel down under to experience an event like this. Furthermore, we also had another special visitor – Jasmine Abel from Stay Driven! It was great to have her company during the reveal.
My first impression? I really don’t know – I was just left speechless. Prior to the reveal I had seen plenty of pictures and videos during the making, but they just did not do it justice. As the door opened, the beauty was revealed next to Southern Cross, RWB Australia’s first build. With a huge duckbill and a widebody kit perfectly installed by Nakai-San, it made it one hell of a car. What really made it so aesthetically pleasing to look at was the glossy gunmetal grey finish on the car itself as well as the Work Meisters fitted with meaty tires, complemented with bronze barrels for its insane dish. This colour scheme as well as the matte black RAUH-Welt windshield banner is an absolute killer combination to break necks. Froth for days!
Chigiri’s build was merely about passion and perfection – The man himself notices one tiny imperfection and stops what he is doing to fix it. His dedication to his work is truly admirable, “I never change, like to keep going, keep on going. No problem”
To see Nakai-san’s artwork would probably be a once in a lifetime experience – take that opportunity while you can!
