Jamboree 2010 – Part Two

The Downshift x Fitment clothing stand at Jamboree 20 went down a treat over last weekend. We all had a great time checking out some hot rides, fast cars, pretty ladies and chatting to mates.. Here are my pics from Saturday, mostly the pre-meet, and promo girls!

When my phone began its little wakeup tune and flashing Jamboree!! at me, it was pitch black. I extracted myself from bed, and the girlfriend rolled over and continued her soft snoring (yes you do baby, dont deny it), leaving me to contemplate the misery in rising before the sun.. I threw on a singlet, a tshirt, a jumper and then a jacket, reminding myself of the freezing temperature and wind howling outside, and before I knew it, I could hear Brad’s S2000 pulling up outside my house (thanks for the pickup bro!).

I ran downstairs with my camera gear and dumped it all in the car. I asked him, “so how many times have you scraped on the way here?”, expecting the answer to be in the low tens.. He answered, “umm about 300 I’d guess”. Ahh the joys of living with a slammed car. Anyway, I jumped in, and we scraped our way out of my street, the inner guards rubbing on the tyre the whole way. Apparently it had been much better before I got in the car, my weight making the suspension sit even a bit lower..

Brad and I made it to DFO without any mishaps, the grinding/scraping noise gradually getting better on the freeway, and whenever we were turning right, or accelerating. Must have worn away all the hanging out bits, coz it was quite good by the time we got to Jindalee.. We smashed some Maccas on the way to meet the boys, and the coffee was like heaven, although Im sure it would’ve made me gag any other day..

We arrived just before first light and started chatting whilst trying to fluff ourselves up and retain as much heat as possible, like birds in the cold at night.. I popped off a few shots at ISO3200 (thank you Mr 5D2! – anyone got suggestions for a name?) before heading off down the highway towards Willowbank. The longass train of slammed, stanced cars would’ve certainly made me look twice, even at that stupid hour of the morning.

So we’re driving along the deserted freeway, when suddenly, I see a random dude running up on a hillside, at least 15 minutes from the closest civilisation! Im like WTF?! When we got closer, I could see that it was Foy smashing out some sunrise shots on his new 50mm 1.4. That’s dedication man, it can’t have been more than a few degrees above freezing.. But the results were worth it, I think! He’ll post his shots shortly..

Made it to Jambo without any further excitement, and managed to get us all in.. Its surprising how much time and effort goes into lining up 26 cars of all different makes and models so they look good together! hehe

I took a few photos of cars and stuff, but since there were about a million others doing that, I decided to specialise in taking some shots of the promo girls. So head to the other posts for cars, otherwise enjoy the ladies! Click for full-res in flickr!
