Another month upon us means that it was time for another Downshift meet!
We had something very special in the month of June. In the background here at DS, we had been working very hard to get something unique for our guests and we did it. Pioneering the way in June with a BRAND NEW location, never before used for a car event! On the Brisbane River at Hamilton sits a 36000m2 hardstand area PERFECT for our famous events. We were nervous at first that we wouldn’t fill the area. This fear was very quickly quashed when the tides turned (not the river tides, that was fine) and we were worried we wouldn’t fit you all in.. With a thousand cars coming through the gates over the day, it was truly our most enjoyed meet yet. The weather was perfect, the wind was down, the sun was out, and cars turned up in droves!
The 86/BRZ club was out in force.
As always there was a strong Japanese presence out, including this MENTAL Datsun sedan.
As we were on the water it seemed only fitting:
Widebody Supra working it!
A spattering of Aussie cars around the place with some very impressive examples.
A Huge Euro contingent was out and about as well.
Loving as always the BMW from the Streetkarnage garage.
The icing on the cake though was that the Brisbane Supercar Club came out to enjoy the day as well with some VERY impressive machinery.
Supercharged Lotus Exige. Full feature coming soon!
Audi R8.
Ferrari 360 and Ferrari F430.
AMG C63.
TVR.
Lamborghini Gallardo.
Not one, but TWO Lexus LF-As.
Also a part of the lineup were two SLK55s, a 911, and 3 R35GTRs scattered throughout the crowd.
We had a huge day of trade stands and promo models as well.
On hand we had Sirck Design & Images..
..Mercury Motorsport..
..Jamboree..
..Slideways Motorsport..
..999 Automotive and EDI International were also on hand.
It was an incredible day with a diverse range of cars, bikes, people, and even a pet or two!
This custom Harley Davidson was on bags!
I’m not usually an Alfa fan (boo, hiss), but this car simply blew me away. It was incredible.
BOSS.
I shall call him… Mini Me… Jake’s S15 now running GT-Cs. Respect for the legit wheel change.
Picnic and a pushbike for if your bags fail over a speedbump.
American oldschool is becoming a more appreciated regular attendee at the events. Very cool.
Again, an amazing meet. The behaviour at this venue was second to none. Very proud of everyone and how it turned out. We are welcome back because of it, so watch this space for future events. To cap off the evening, we had the Pacific Dawn sail past on it’s way to the South Pacific. It’s also time for my 180sx to set sail to a new home as I’ve sold it as of this week.
From here, Downshift is looking forward to continue pioneering the way onto bigger and better things. Stay tuned!
