October has rolled around for another year, and if you’re a motorhead in QLD it can mean only one thing: MATSURI! As cars started arriving on Friday night the atmosphere was growing. This year I was lucky enough to be shooting beside one of QLD’s best photographers, Chris Howard.
I arrived early Saturday morning to the smell of E85 and the sight of many tired eyes. I could tell already I was in for a long weekend! Never wanting to do anything by halves, I set up my tent and prepared for the weekend ahead. 9am rolled around very quickly, cars started lining up in the pits raring to go, and just like that Matsuri had begun!
I could already tell this year’s event was going to be like none other, with a huge attendance from our friends south of the border it was great seeing some new faces and builds out and about. So without further ado, here is our 2015 Spring Matsuri photo set. Enjoy!
The Gravy Garage boys sure know a thing or two about style, all with matching cars, it was impressive to see.
There were a few fresh cars making their debut out over the weekend, was great to see them in the flesh after following the builds for so long.
Trains are a common thing at Matsuri events, and the level of tandem driving this year was through the roof!
The atmosphere within the sheds on Saturday night was amazing. Engine swaps, rebuilds and Sandstorm blaring down the back.
Everywhere you looked you saw a team car cruising the track. It was great to see some decent co-ordination!
Arif attending yet another Matsuri event. Hasn’t missed one since its inception in 2011.
One of the stand out cars of the weekend, this very aggressive looking 180.
Oliver from Oliver’s Import Heaven made the huge trek up from Melbourne, bringing with him his completely custom RB26DETT S13. Having a few dramas with his power steering on Saturday meant he didn’t get as much track time as he hoped. But it was the first time he drove the car, only finishing it 24 hours before leaving for the event!
Until next time, thanks for reading! Enjoy the rest of our photos.
